I Void Generator sono un gruppo italiano appartenente ai generi musicali stoner, space rock e psichedelico.
Il gruppo si è formato a Roma nel 1996 con una prima line-up a cinque facendo collimare le esperienze musicali di alcuni musicisti locali che avevano lavorato insieme in progetti precedenti. La band fin dall’inizio ha utilizzato strumentazione vintage sia nella sezione chitarre che nell’elettronica con la dichiarata intenzione di rendere le atmosfere psichedeliche dei predecessori nel genere. Hanno pubblicato per la prima volta in cd con Fluido Distribuzioni, in una compilation di band locali che si chiude con il loro brano intitolato God Of The Space, composizione heavy tripping ispirata allo stile di gruppi come Hawkwind, Motorpsycho, Kyuss, Gong. Ridotta la line-up a 4 elementi con alcuni cambi nella formazione, i Void hanno trascorso un lungo periodo di sperimentazione musicale nel loro studio di registrazione chiamato Il Giardino del Mago, fondato nel 2004 lontano dai clamori del music business nella campagna reatina. Hanno così pubblicato il primo cd omonimo nel 2004, il quale, composto da 4 lunghe tracce, ha ottenuto recensioni in tutto il web su varie riviste specializzate. Nel Marzo del 2004 il brano Blues Ky, estratto dall’album, è stato introdotto nella compilation A.A.V.V. – Escape From The Ghetto Vol. 1 ad opera dell’etichetta Cnoize Records. Il secondo lavoro, dal titolo We Have Found The Space (2005), composto da dieci lunghi brani in stile space rock, ha permesso l’exploit definitivo del gruppo fra gli appassionati del genere. Infatti il disco ha ottenuto parecchi ordini via mail ed è stato distribuito in molti paesi, maggiormente in USA e in Germania. Ciò ha portato alla pubblicazione in cd ed in rete del brano Astral Manipulations sulla compilation per la webzine italiana perkele.it intitolata Desert Sound Vol.2: The Spaghetti Stoner. I Void Generator hanno svolto minitour in Nord Italia e hanno partecipato a vari festival. Hanno suonato come spalla ai The Gang nel relativo tour (estate del 2002). Nel 2005 il concerto in cartellone al Tim Tour è stato trasmesso in tv sui canali satellitari. In Italia hanno partecipato a the Prog Awards 2006 top 20 chart dove sono stati votati fra i primi venti gruppi psycho-prog italiani di tutti i tempi. La rivista americana specializzata Paragon – Music Magazine ha intervistato il gruppo nel numero di Maggio/Giugno 2006 (Issue 30) e li ha recensiti nel Febbraio/Marzo 2007 (Issue 35). Dopo un ulteriore cambio di organico, i Void Generator sono tornati in studio di registrazione ed hanno pubblicato per la indie label romana Phonosphera Records, nel maggio 2010, il loro secondo full-lenght ‘Phantom Hell and Soar Angelic’ nel quale compaiono tre brani ultra psichedelici e una ghost track di 24 minuti, e col quale si affacciano definitivamente sulla scena europea. Grazie all'album tornano ancora nella 20 Top Chart del Prog Awards 2010. Nel frattempo partecipano, col vecchio brano ‘Sidereal Connection’, ad una compilation americana per la 272 Records denominata Riot on Sunset Vol.25. L'anno successivo, sempre per la Phonosphera Records, esce Collision EP, un minialbum contenente due lunghi brani, Stretched Sunlight e il live Collision. Ad aprile 2014 è uscito SUPERSOUND, il loro ultimo album composto di 7 fulgide canzoni heavy psych.

Attualmente sono in studio per un nuovo lavoro di jam psichedeliche...

 

 

 

Void Generator are an Italian group belonging to the musical genres stoner, space rock and psychedelic.

The group was formed in Rome in 1996 with an initial line-up composed by five members by aligning the musical experiences of some local musicians who had worked together on previous projects. The band from the very beginning has used vintage instruments both in the guitars and electronics with the declared intention of renewing the psychedelic atmosphere of the predecessors in the genre. They published for the first time on CD with Fluido Distributioni, in a compilation of local bands that ended with their song called God Of The Space, a heavy tripping composition inspired by the style of bands like Hawkwind, Motorpsycho, Kyuss, Gong. Reduced the line-up to 4 members with few changes in the group, VG have spent a long period of musical experimentation in their recording studio called The Magician's Garden, founded in 2004, far from the clamor of the music business in the country of Rieti, Italy. Thus they released their first self-titled CD in 2004, which consists of 4 long tracks, scored reviews all over the web on various magazines. In March 2004, the song Blues Ky, from the album, was introduced into compilation Various Authors - Escape From The Ghetto Vol 1 by Cnoize Records label. The second work, titled We Have Found The Space (2005) , consists of ten long tracks in a pure space rock style, which has allowed the final exploit of the group among fans of the genre. In fact, the album has received several orders by mail and was distributed in many countries, mostly in the U.S. and Germany. This led to the publication of the song Astral Manipulations in CD and on the web on the compilation for the Italian webzine perkele.it called Desert Sound Vol.2 : The Spaghetti Stoner. The Void Generator played mini-tour in Northern Italy and participated in various festivals. They played as the opening act for The Gang in their tour ( summer of 2002). In 2005, the concert billboard in the Tim tour was televised on satellite channels. In Italy participated in the Prog Awards 2006 top 20 chart where they were voted among the top twenty psycho -prog Italian groups of all time. The American magazine Paragon - Music Magazine interviewed the group in the May / June 2006 (Issue 30) and have them reviewed in the February / March 2007 ( Issue 35). After a further exchange of staff, the Void Generator were back in the recording studio and released by the Roman indie label Phonosphera Records, in May 2010, their second full-length album called Phantom Hell and Soar Angelic in which there are three psycho - prog tracks and a psychedelic ghost track 24 minutes long, and with which they overlook definitely on the European scene. By this album they went back again in the Top 20 album chart of the Prog Awards 2010. Meanwhile they participated, with the old song Sidereal Connection, to an American compilation for 272 Records called Riot on Sunset Vol.25. The following year for Phonosphera Records comes Collision EP, a mini album that contains two long tracks, Sunlight Stretched and the live Collision. In April 2014 was released SUPERSOUND, their last album that consists of 7 shining heavy psych songs. For the occasion, Iantaffi was interviewed by the important Italian guitarists’ review Chitarre.
